A Somali man was arrested early this morning after being caught raping a woman in Gzira, the police said.

The police were anonymously informed at 4.30am that a man was raping a woman in Gerry Zammit Street, Gzira.

Police officers of the Rapid Intervention Unit went on site and arrested the man.

The woman, from Sweden, was taken to hospital for treatment. The man, from Somalia, was arrested.

Magistrate Demicoli ordered an inquiry.
