Updated: Busuttil's talk is cheap says the Labour Party; Muscat should be ashamed - PN

The fact that Simon Busuttil finds no reason to take any action against his deputy Beppe Fenech Adami is another confirmation that he has gailed yet another test, said the Labour Party in a statement.

The PL said Dr Fenech Adami never declared that he was close to the Gaffarena family and only admitted it when he was exposed by the media. The PL said that it had been confirmed that Dr Beppe Fenech Adami's wife was the Gaffarena family's notary and Dr Fenech Adami was their lawyer in two cases. "This attitude is synonymous with Dr Busuttil's way of doing things. Instead of condemning his deputy's lies, he stuck his neck out for him.

"Talk is cheap," concluded the PL.

In a counter statement, the PN said that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat should hang his head in shame.

The PN said that the government gave Gaffarena everything he wanted, from the taxpayers'pockets. The PN said that Gaffarena was given a permit by a Labour government to operate his illegal service station. The government also took no action against Parliamentary Secretary Michael Falzon, even though he was personally involved in a scandal that made Gaffarena a millionaire. No action was taken against Minister Carmelo Abela either, said the PN although he was caught lying in parliament about whether the government was going to buy Palazzo Verdelin from Gaffarena. The PN said that Opposition leader Simon Busuttil had made eight challenges to the Prime Minister on Sunday, but more than 24 hours later, he has not responded to one of them.
