A fire broke out in the lower floor of a two-storey building in Birkirkara Road St Julian's this morning at around 10.30 am.
The resident, an elderly man, suffered some grazing on his arm.
Firemen were on site to put out the blaze as the man was seen having his arm bandaged.
The fire is believed to have started in the yard but the cause is still to be established.
Police were also on site diverting traffic, while residents of the adjacent buildings were informed to await a government architect before re-entering their homes, just as a precaution. Around 5 gas cylinders were removed from the home and looked to be in a bad state.
