PM should not be stubborn on University development at Zonqor – PN

Monday, 10 August 2015, 13:06 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Nationalist Party said today that the Prime Minister remains stubborn on the idea to develop a university at Zonqor Point, a site in an outside development zone.

In May, in the largest ever environmental protest, the people called on the PM to withdraw the idea of having a university built on pristine land. But yesterday the PM said that the plan was still to have the university built there.

Joseph Muscat chose the week in which many people are on holiday to break the news, hoping that the people will remain quiet, the PN said. But Muscat is wrong because the Opposition as well as environmental NGOs and civil society are up in arms against the proposal.

Four months after signing the contract, the document is still to publish it, the PN said, once again challenging the Prime Minister to do so.

The PN said it will continue to fight with all legal means against such a project.
