On Friday, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat inaugurated RS2’s new Gozo offices following an investment of €1 million by the company. There are currently twenty Gozitans working with the company which is expected to increase its workforce to hundred by 2020.

RS2, which employs 180 employees at its Mosta-based facility, is a global provider of card payment services, IT consultancy and related services to international and domestic banks, service providers, retailers and other financial organisations. After more than 26 years in operation, RS2 has offices in Germany, U.S.A, Brazil, Jordan and the Philippines with a total workforce of 300.

The Prime Minister, Joseph Muscat, said that the government wanted good quality jobs for Gozo, adding that the island is now becoming synonymous with investment.

Dr Muscat also mentioned the project by Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry which will  improve healthcare and will give an injection into the economy from international health tourism, not just in terms of treatment but recuperation too.

The Prime Minister noted with pleasure that the film company behind the multi-million production, By The Sea, had released the official trailer which, even from the teaser, one could sense that the splendor of Gozo would travel the world. Not only did Brangelina spend around €20 million while filming in Gozo, but the movie would serve as a massive promotion for Gozo as a destination to visit.

A second broadband cable between Gozo and Malta would strengthen Gozo’s digital access and increase further the island’s attractiveness for the IT sector. Gozo might have appearedto be travelling along a quiet road, but it was actually zooming up the information super highway.
