The subsidies to the tomato sector will amount to €900,000 in the next seven years, Parliamentary Secretary Roderick Galdes said.

Mr Galdes was visiting the tomato processing plant of Magro Brothers in Xewkija, Gozo, witnessing the process from when the fruit is grown and processed. He also visited fields where tomatoes were being collected, and met with a number of farmers.

The parliamentary secretary said that this investment will be beneficial for families involved in the sector.
