An 18-year-old man is in critical condition after he was hit by a sword during a re-enactment exercise at Fort Rinella yesterday, the police said.

The accident happened at 12.45pm yesterday, but the police released details of the accident this morning..

The man, of Tarxien, was taking part in a duel demonstration with a colleague, a 25-year-old of Santa Venera, when the accident happened.

The police did not say where the man was hit. It however explained that there "so far" there is no indication if a malicious intention in “this unfortunate accident”.
