A man and a woman were grievously injured on Tuesday evening when they were hit by wood splinters caused by petards that were being let off on the vicinity.
The police said the accident took place at Wied iz-Zurrieq yesterday at 10pm.
The two, aged 62 and 65 respectively, and resident of Kalkara, were outside a farmhouse following the fireworks display. Splinters of wood that was struck by the petards hit them in the face, the police said.
