Inspiración Flamenca, a Spanish dance and flamenco company, presents its second major production, 'poesíaFlamenca' as part of the 2015/2016 season at St. James Cavalier, following the success of 'Pasión' in 2013. The group is directed by Bettina von Brockdorff, whose experience from studying flamenco professionally in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, contributes to the versatile repertoire which the group presents in this production.

'poesíaFlamenca' portrays Spanish dance, Danza Estilizada and contemporary flamenco fused with Maltese poetry through a journey of expressing the true 'soul', 'alma' of flamenco. The dancers and poets share ideas to fuse their arts together to reflect the profundity and emotions of these art forms. The dancers explored different fields of Spanish dance and work together in their respective specialized Spanish dance, flamenco and contemporary niches to create innovative creations that are reflective of flamenco's evolution. Although the main focus of the production remains dance, one may also appreciate those few pieces fused with poetry, even if one is not familiar with Maltese poetry or language. This is due to the fact that the poetic expression is portrayed through the dance choreography simultaneously, complementing the poet's thought..

This production is rich in rhythm, musical variety, holistic expression of emotions, colour, vibrance and passion. The members of Inspiración Flamenca include; Bettina von Brockdorff, Caroline Caruana, Marisha Bonnici, Robert Scicluna (dancers) and Caroline Mattocks (percussion: cajón). The two guest artists participating are acclaimed authors and poets; Norbert Bugeja and Walid Nabhan.

The event will be held at St. James Cavalier, Valletta, on the 18th and 19th of September 2015 at 8pm. Information regarding tickets for the performances may be found from www.sjcav.org or calling on 21223200.
