Government reveals Sedqa and Appogg restructuring

A Union Hadiema Maghqudin statement said this evening that in a meeting with its delegation, Minister Michael Farrugia revealed the restructuring of Agenzija Appgg and Agenzija Sedqa. 

The minister said the government wants to change the Foundation from one based on a notarial document to one with a legal framework.

Agenzija Sapport will not be within the new agency.

The minister said government wants to treat clients in a more holistic manner. Existing services will be restructured under three pillars: Family Unit, Community Unit and Child in Care Unit.

The UHM committee will be meeting employees over the coming days. 

Minister Farugia said there will be full consultation with UHM so that the restructuring will not be to the detriment of the employees and also so that the experience, ethics and professionalism of the social workers be safeguarded.

The union will hold full consultation with its members so that the restructuring will not negatively affect the members.

The government has not so far issued any statement with regards to this meeting.
