Fiat 500 Club Italia Raduno in Malta

Sunday, 6 September 2015, 15:47 Last update: about 11 years ago

Twenty-two members of the Fiat 500 Club Italia came to Malta on Friday, 4 September, with their 11 classic 1970s Fiat 500 led by Angelo Fiore, who promoted a similar event in Modica.

Soon after their arrival, the group met the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Joe Mizzi, and then proceeded to take a brief tour of Valletta.

After checking-in at the hotel, they visited the Mdina Glass factory and the Aviation Museum in Ta' Qali, followed by a brief tour of Mdina. Yesterday, the group toured the island, including a visit to the Ħagar Qim temples.

This morning, between 9am and noon, they will be displaying their classic Fiat 500 cars at the Dock No. 1 in Cottonera, with the kind permission of the Bormla local council.

In the course of this Raduno, the Italian guests are also scheduled to meet the Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth & Sport, Chris Agius.

Local Fiat 500 owners are being invited to join the Club Italia members at Dock No. 1 today with their cars, but since space is limited they need to inform the Malta Automobile Club to reserve a space.

Those who will not find a space may park their car at the car park in Triq il-Karmnu outside Senglea Gates, a short walk away from Dock No. 1, which can be reached through a flight of steps or the elevator.

The Italian guests will then cross the bridge and proceed to Don Berto restaurant for lunch. Local Fiat 500 owners who wish to join the group for lunch are kindly requested to inform the Malta Automobile Club and phone the restaurant on 2180 8008.

Fiat Malta is supporting this event and is offering some incentives on the entire Fiat 500 range. The Malta Tourism Authority is also providing informative literature to the Italian guests.

The Malta Automobile Club wishes to appeal to drivers to give some consideration to the group of Italian foreign guests during the weekend so that those driving at the back of the group do not get lost.
