The Broadcasting Authority has ruled in favour of the Nationalist Party after it filed a complaint about a PBS news bulletin about the new power station on 20 August.

In a statement, the PN said that during the news service in question, PBS sought comments from Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi about the delay in the building of the new power station.

Despite PBS describing the issue as “controversial,” no comments were sought from the Opposition about the matter, the PN said.

The Broadcasting Authority ruled that the PN’s complaint about the bulletin was justified, as PBS did not solicit comments from the Party, much less publish them, the statement continued.

This is not the first time PBS has been found guilty of political imbalance against the PN, the Party said, appealing to PBS Head of News Reno Bugeja to “stop the current campaign of only offering a voice to the government and boycotting the Nationalist Opposition.” 

Despite this ruling, the BA did not fine PBS or impose any remedial action.
