Thousands of people have gathered at Ta' Qali for the seventh edition of Rockestra. It is an annual concert bringing together many people from all over the islands, that will be taking place at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre in Ta’ Qali on the 12th September.
In a statement given to The Malta Independent by the President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleira Preca, regarding the concert, it was said that “Rockestra is an annual event that each year attracts thousands of people. All celebration of solidarity is in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. The event creates a beautiful atmosphere of appreciation of local musical talents, to help those who are in need of assistance of the Malta Community Chest Fund, including those who need assistance due to cancers, chronic ailments, rare diseases and patients who need to travel abroad for treatment. I thank the Maltese and Gozitans for always supporting the efforts behind the MCCF that is always striving to do good.”
The event has been sold out, the organisers said. The MFCC has been transformed for the greatly anticipated event, with dazzling lights and a beautiful stage that is ready to welcome the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra as well as many other musicians and singers such as Brooke Borg, Raquela, Mikaela, Julia Zahra and Ludwig Galea.
This year’s Rockestra will see performances by Luca Colombo, one of the most in-demand and critically acclaimed guitarists in Italy. He has shared the stage with Eros Ramazzotti, Marco Mengoni, Nek, Max Pezzali, Mango, Anna Oxa, Robbie Williams, Lionel Richie, Al Jarreau, Phil Collins, Leona Lewis, Rebecca Ferguson, Jennifer Lopez, Brian May, Michael Bublè amd James Blunt to name a few.
