Labour MP Godfrey Farrugia today underwent a delicate operation in a London hospital which, according to his partner Marlene Farrugia, "went very well".
The Zebbug doctor was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer last month.
It is possible that Dr Farrugia is discharged from hospital on Thursday, but he would then need three more weeks in which to recover.
He flew to London with Marlene Farrugia, also a Labour MP, last week.
Writing on Facebook that time, Dr Farrugia said he the surgery was to be carried out with the use of a robot.
“The anaesthetic to be use is one of routine, but the surgery is delicate and major. It is expected that I spend some time in ITU,” he had written.
The Malta Independent wishes Dr Farrugia a speedy recovery.
