Malta is among the countries that have registered the biggest growth in industrial production when compared to the previous year, the government said in a statement. Referring to figures published by Eurostat, the EU’s statistics agency, the government said industrial production in July was up 7.7% over the corresponding month in 2014.  

A week ago, Malta’s National Statistics office said industrial production in July was up 7.1%. This showed that the industrial sector was experiencing positive revisions, it said.

The government said industrial production in Malta improved greatly over the Eurozone average, where an increase of 1.9% was registered. Economic growth was also greater in Malta than the average for Eurozone countries.

Improvements over last year’s performance in industrial production have been registered from the start of the year, the government said, meaning that the industry was experiencing consistent positive results.

Whilst this was a positive result, the government was committed to help industrial entities improve their situation further, which would lead to the creation of more jobs and increased income for Maltese families.
