Government launched a white paper to address the bureaucratic process that exists in the inspections system.

As of right now, government said, there are 20 different inspectorates who, between them, undertake 70,000 inspections per year. "This can result in a business having six inspections in a single day.

The White paper proposes to address this by introducing a mechanism to better coordinate inspections and make them more transparent. It proposes three mechanisms for consultation, one that will merge the inspectorates under one agency, one that will see the inspectorates brought under a number of specialised agencies according to the sector of the inspectorate, and the third that the inspectorates remain separate bus a central coordination with a legal framework be set up that will coordinate their work and introduce new practices in relation to how inspections occur.

"This reform will lead to a simplification of administrative processes while reducing the expenses imposed on private investors through simplified procedures in favour of businesses". Government said that this will result in businesses being in a better position to invest in new projects".

The consultation process will remain open until October 30, and government said it will listen to all stakeholders.
