It is striking to observe the stark contrast between the German government's tolerance and altruism in the face of a veritable flood of refugees fleeing war and persecution, and Hungary's seemingly heartless response to the ordeal of so many displaced human beings.
The citizens of various European countries have voiced their anger at Hungary's unacceptable behaviour regarding the plight of refugees from war-torn areas in the Middle East. However, Germany, France, Italy and even the US remain tolerant, welcoming countries to all kinds of immigrants, including refugees.
Obviously, there are segments of the German, France, and Italy populations that are prejudicial. This should not, however, distract the attention of Europe from the fact that some governments have implemented refugee-friendly policies which bode well for the future of these unfortunate refugees.
