A 33-year-old man from Libya has been charged with stealing a number of clothing items from shops in St Julian's, and illegally carrying a knife early on Sunday morning.
Mohamed M. Mahdi, of no fixed address, denied stealing a jacket, a t-shirt, a mobile phone and carrying the knife.
He was found drunk, and had been taking sips from other people's drinks in a nightclub.
He was also accused of committing these crimes whilst serving a suspended sentence.
No request for bail was made.
Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras presided and Inspector Trevor Micallef prosecuted.
Lawyer Abigail Bugeja appeared for the accused.
