President of the Republic Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca today inaugurated a new centre called Fondazzjoni Karl Vella at the Kitchen Garden.
Mr Vella had died of cancer but before he passed, he offered words of support to fellow cancer sufferers during numerous programmes and fund-raising activities on TVM’s Xarabank. Mr Vella lost his battle to cancer in February.

The Foundation aims to offer services to children whose parents are going through a rough time due to an illness.
The foundation itself was founded by his wife and two children a few months after he passed away.
During today’s inaugural ceremony, Commissioner for Children Helen D’Amato launched a book on the services the foundation is offering.
The foundation will assist children aged between five and 17 years of age to do their homework while also giving them psychosocial support.
