A Nigerian man today was remanded in custody after he was charged with trafficking cannabis in Paceville. He is one of the nine caught by drug squad police on Sunday.
Eric Lawani, 27, has been living in Malta for a year, and currently resides in Zurrieq.
He was also charged with committing a crime within 100 metres of a school. The accused, who has an Italian travelling document, pleaded not guilty.
Prosecuting inspector Nikolai Sant told the court, presided by Magistrate Joe Mifsud, that the accused was caught in the act of exchanging drugs for money by undercover drug squad policemen.
Dr Mark Mifsud Cutajar was legal aid.
