Tuesday, 20 October 2015, 18:24 Last update: about 12 years ago

On Friday morning, Mr Edgar Preca, the husband of H.E. The President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, started visiting schools in relation to the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign, which this year has the theme "Mit-Tfal b'Solidarjetà". The campaign was launched on Thursday at the Verdala Palace. During the first day, Mr Preca visited three schools, Primary School Hamrun and Primary School Paola, both forming part of San Gorg Preca College, and St Ignatius College in Marsa.

During these visits, Mr Preca spoke to the children about the campaign's objectives explaining that it is primarily intended to encourage children to become altruistic from a young age,  ensuring that our future generations will be made up of people who think of those in the society who have different needs.;. "When you sow love, you reap love, and when you help others, the joy you feel in your heart is incredible."

John Paul Abela, Manager, Media and Community Relations Bank of Valletta  accompanied Mr Preca. Mr Abela said, "This campaign pivots around the value of solidarity. We are all part of a community, whether we are at school, at the office or at home. That is why we need to take care of one another. When we help the Malta Community Chest Fund, we are helping those that are facing challenging times in their lives, and we would really be part of a community."

Mr Preca will continue his school visits until December. He will be visiting thirty schools in all.

The L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign is now in its twelfth edition. Children are encouraged to put their small donations in a specifically designated piggy bank to help those that would need the assistance of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
