Thursday, 22 October 2015, 10:21 Last update: about 12 years ago

As part of the European SME Week 2015, the Gozo Business Chamber, in conjunction with the organizers of the SME Week events within the Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business, held a seminar for its members entitled "Better use of the Internet by SMEs".

Michael Grech, President of the Gozo Business Chamber, opened the event by emphasizing the care that needs to be taken in using the modern means of communication which can lead to the success or otherwise of businesses.  This is important, especially when one considers the modern technology that has to be used.

This was then expounded by the three speakers that followed, starting with Superintendent Ian Abdilla who highlighted the opportunities and threats which modern technology offers giving many examples of how businesses, and individuals, can be defrauded.

Marco Desira from the Bank of Valletta gave a detailed explanation about Internet and Phone Banking and the benefits for the businesses concerned.

Finally, Mark Bonnici spoke about the use of the website as a selling medium. Each session was followed by questions from the floor.

The seminar was closed by Mr Grech who thanked all the speakers for their contribution and augured well to the participants.
