Employees and employers need to join hands to help create more wealth - PM

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the Labour Party in government is against politics which brings about division but instead wants to see that employees and employers join forces to help create more wealth than there already is.

Speaking during a GWU meeting organised by the union’s delegates and led by new secretary general Josef Bugeja at the PL headquarters in Hamrun, Dr Muscat said that he has no doubt the GWU agrees with this thinking.

He reminded those present that Malta has the lowest unemployment rate and jobs were being created at an accelerated rate like never before.

He said despite this fact, “we will not forget about those individuals who are still unemployed”.

On precarious working conditions, Dr Muscat praised the GWU for being among the first to speak about precarious work.

On his part, Mr Bugeja said that the Prime Minister is seriously addressing the precarious work problem, and assured that the union will be playing an active role in ensuring that such conditions are eradicated.
