Those who may have had any doubts as to whether Dr Simon Busuttil is fit for purpose as Opposition leader, must have not only had those doubts dispelled after hearing his reply to the Budget, but must now be convinced that neither is he fit to lead the PN.
During his two-hour speech, the Leader of the Opposition found not one thing in the Budget that deserved praise. According to Simon Busuttil, the credit for all the good things that this government has done during the last two-and-half years should be given to GonziPN. On the other hand, he tried to convince that all the problems left behind by GonziPN, such as the traffic situation, were created by the PL government.
Certainly, Simon Busuttil’s personal attacks on PL ministers and the Prime Minister continue to prove that he is suffering from a serious inferiority complex. As if this was not enough, the PN leader decided to ridicule himself by suggesting that the Prime Minister should start going to work on a bicycle, when he himself used a bicycle for just one morning – as a political stunt.
No wonder most of the PN parliamentary group seemed to be unimpressed for one whole hour of the Leader of the Opposition’s speech. Someone must have then whispered something in their ears about banging on their desks every now and then to try and show that they were supporting what he was saying.
