Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014-2020 launched

Monday, 2 November 2015, 18:02 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Parliamentary Secretary for the EU Presidency 2017 and EU Funds Ian Borg today launched the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund for Malta, following the approval of the National Programme by the European Commission in March 2015.

Malta will be investing €23 million in EU funds in a number of projects aimed at targeting the national objectives identified in the National Programme for the Fund.

Dr Borg also launched the first calls for applications under the said fund. The calls launched are for projects implementing integration measures for third country nationals and voluntary return measures.

These two calls for proposals, which close on 27 November, are open to non-governmental organisations and other organisations.

Other calls were also launched which directly target the activities of specific entities, such as the Ministry for Education with regard to educational measures undertaken for third country nationals, the office of the Commissioner for Refugees to support asylum processes, and the Immigration Police in relation to activities of forced return.

An information session to help the applicants is set for 11 November. More information can be found on the website www.eufunds.gov.mt.

Further information can also be obtained from the Responsible Authority within the Funds and Programmes Division on [email protected].
