With reference to Mr Guillaumier's letter 'Respect for religion' it seems that I was a prophet for calling him (in another paper) a self-appointed guiding light and a know-it-all in mattes of belief, ethics, leadership, truth and good manners.
Instead of respecting other people's point of view as regards religion, beauty, righteousness etc., he takes it upon himself to denigrate other people's beliefs (only Catholic in his case) as if it is within his rights to do so. His denunciatory remarks, 'poisons everything' and 'divisive blight' are indeed a major irritant and he never loses every opportunity to enfeeble our and the world's Catholic culture.
Anyone who insults somebody's mother is expected to receive a slap in the face (Pope Francis).
Christianity has been a boon to mankind...and has had a beneficent effect upon the human race...most people today who love in an ostensibly Christian environment (as we were until a few years ago - my words) with Christian ethics do not realize how much we owe Jesus of Nazareth. What goodness and mercy there is in this world has come in large measure from Him. (Dr James Kennedy)
Besides, there are moral-living Muslims, Jews, Mormons, Catholics, Hindus etc. Isn't it how a person lives and treats his neighbour more important than what he believes theologically?
Believers and non believers alike, if righteous and are law-abiding citizens, have a right not to be offended or their life to be put in danger as a whim.
