Re/Max Malta has sponsored a one of a kind innovative event entitled Surf & Turf, consisting of a series of mini sailing regattas held at the Msida Yacht Marina followed by a golf competition held at The Royal Malta Golf Club in Marsa. The event was held on Sunday, 15th November and was organised by the International Maritime Academy and The Golf Shop.
This event was open to young and old who had no experience in either sailing or golf or who practice one sport but not the other. Each team consisted of 4 participants and all points obtained from either of the competitions were added to determine the winning team.
The winning team was led by John Ripard together with Andy Borg, Emma Ripard and Joanna Cassar. A total of five sailing regattas were held at Marsamxett Creek which saw the winning team leading by 3 points. The golf competition was a lot closer as the novices in the various teams played extremely well, forcing the experienced golfers to stay on their toes. At the end of the event a presentation ceremony was held at Putters Inn at the RMGC.
Speaking about the event RE/MAX Malta's Chief Operating Officer and Director, Jeff Buttigieg said that "we are proud to be associated with such a successful event which brought together two sports which are continuously gaining popularity in Malta, into one event." Mr Buttigieg also thanked the International Maritime Academy for bringing this event together and making it an enjoyable day for all participants.
International Maritime Academy Event Coordinator, Carey Stuart, thanked Re/Max for supporting this event, which was greatly enjoyed by all participants all of whom are looking forward to next year's event.
