Slowly but surely Joseph Muscat is losing ground. His intransigence to keep Michael Falzon and now Ian Borg, to retain their respective portfolios is costing him a quite lot. He is fully aware that their positions are no longer tenable, but Dr Muscat is as hard-headed as Dom Mintoff and he is adamant to keep them there!....And what about Joe Debono Grech? Not a slightest whisper from Dr Muscat, as if this outrage by the honourable (?) member was a simple joke, a silly joke (?) that reminded us of the Golden Years of Labour! We knew then what they were capable of doing, yet people readily gave them another chance to govern...
On the contrary, it looks like Simon Busuttil is gaining ground after all! Gone are the 36,000 votes which elected the PL in government after years and years in the wilderness. Unfortunately, we have not got the government we deserve, the government we were promised, the government with a new way of doing politics; the government with a vision, the government with a road map, with transparency, meritocracy and God knows what else.
People voted for a serious government, for a new leadership to lead us all by example. However, we now have a government for the select few, a government which schemes and plots against a capable, honest and serious contender by the name of Simon Busuttil.
The change from Lawrence Gonzi’s government and Joseph Muscat’s one is serious, dramatic and yes, pathetic, but today no one is a fool and in two years’ time people will have another chance to settle accounts, especially those highly regarded army officers who were trampled on and forced to resign!
