Medieval superstition survives in the 21st century. We see Pope Francis proclaiming 2016 a “Holy Year” and opening “Holy Doors”, and dispensing worthless indulgences. These mummeries were one of the causes of the Protestant Reformation. They were discarded by Protestant Christians centuries ago.
