Monday, 15 February 2016, 15:24 Last update: about 9 years ago

The Youth Section within Our Lady of the Lily Musical Society of Mqabba will kick start its drama season with a large scale representation of a brilliant Maltese comedy. Kamillu jitlef rasu will be brought back to life on stage on Saturday, 27 February at the Mqabba Primary School Hall in Valletta Road at 7.30pm. The character of Kamillu will certainly bring a great deal of nostalgia to most Maltese. It was a very popular character in times gone by. This comedy, by Emmanuel Francalanza, continues to explore Kamillu's outstanding personality.

Produced by Our Lady of the Lily Youth Section, the plot takes us in a small and quiet house where Kamillu and Karmena spend much of their time together. Kamillu, an ordinary man, tries his utmost everyday to earn a living for him and his sister, so that they could live in a decent way. He is employed as a gardener for Mrs Anna Borg Pirotta. Karmena is a kind hardworker who occupies her time by cleaning the house. All the parish priest thinks about is Kamillu's homemade wine. But what happens when he takes two bottles from Kamillu's house? Spiru, the church helper, is going for a trip to Tunis organised by the Club. Kamillu is his only friend so he handed him over some money to keep for him while he is away. Ċensina, the housekeeper of Mrs Borg Pirotta, is a pretty girl and likes Kamillu a lot. Mari knows everything about everyone and never misses a thing. The kind doctor and the police do their utmost to keep the village organised as much as possible.

But not everything will go as planned! Will Ċensina and Kamillu get together? What will happen to Spiru's money? Last but not least, what will happen when Kamillu and Karmena meet up?
