Malta’s ECB Cultural Days wrap up in style

Monday, 29 February 2016, 15:37 Last update: about 11 years ago

Malta's ambitious programme of events marking the 13th edition of the Cultural Days of the European Central Bank (ECB) came to a close last weekend at the English Theatre in Frankfurt with two performances of Tennessee Williams' classic The Rose Tattoo. The play, directed by Albert Marshall with an all-Maltese cast, was sold out on both nights.

After the second performance, Professor Josef Bonnici, Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, handed over the 'relay baton' to Vitor Constancio, vice-president of the ECB, who passed it on to Jens Weidmann, President of the German Bundesbank. Germany has been selected as the theme country for 2016 and will be responsible for organising this year's ECB Cultural Days.
