The Point Shopping Mall in conjunction with The Security Academy Malta Ltd has organized training courses in Emergency Response, First Aid and Firefighting for over 150 sales assistants representing the various outlets at The Point. These courses were delivered by two professional consultants from the International Bodyguard Associates (IBA) UK, and were held during the last week of February at the EF International Language Centre Malta, in St Julians.

The Point is continuously striving to ensure the delivery of an excellent customer experience. Further to efforts done in previous years, The Point has now teamed up with The Security Academy to professionally train its newly appointed Emergency Response Wardens, developing their skills to ensure staff and customer safety.

Shopping Centre environments are busy places and attract high volumes of customers, so it is important that staff are vigilant at all times and be able to offer assistance should any incidents or unplanned situations arise.  

"We believe that having staff that are well informed and trained on emergency response procedures, First Aid and firefighting, not only provides a safer environment for customers, but also ensures employees are confident should an emergency occur," said Edwin Borg, CEO of The Point Shopping Mall.

Jovan Grech, the CEO of Signal 8 Security Services Malta Ltd and The Security Academy Malta emphasized the importance of having security minded employees in a retail environment, especially in today's world.  He further stated that "The safety of the customers and the employees may be in threatened if a crime occurs on the premises, therefore taking precautionary measures is essential."

The Security Academy Malta was founded in 2009 by renowned local security company Signal 8 Security Services Malta.  The aim of the academy is to provide professional training in the security industry, developing a talent pool and promoting co-operation between security personnel in Malta.
