Financial education sessions from Bank of Valletta in Gozo

Monday, 7 March 2016, 16:53 Last update: about 11 years ago

For the first time ever, Bank of Valletta is hosting a course of four sessions about different financial topics for the general public at its Victoria Branch in Gozo.

As explained by the Bank's Investor Relations Officer John Paul Abela, this initiative forms part of the Bank's highly sought after Investor Educational Programme, which this year marks its 15th edition.

"The BOV Investor Education Programme was designed and launched for the first time in 2002. It was intended as a forum where members of the general public are invited to attend a series of sessions addressed by key persons working in specialised units within the Bank, with the aim of explaining financial terms, and demystifying financial solutions that one may not be so familiar with," explained Mr Abela. The programme continued to grow year after year, as the Bank brought new topics to the fore, based on feedback received by participants themselves.

Horace Laudi, BOV Regional Manager for Gozo welcomed the initiative and said, "At Bank of Valletta, we feel it is important to help our customers grow, also by giving them the necessary skills and tools to empower them to take better informed decisions and expanding their knowledge base."

Among the topics lined up for the sessions, participants will learn more about what constitutes an investment portfolio, the sustainability of pensions, bonds and shares as well as the element of risk in one's investments. All talks will be delivered in Maltese.

Participation is free of charge. A certificate of attendance will be given to participants who attend a minimum number of sessions. Those wishing to attend may reserve their seat by phoning 2275 3556 from Monday to Friday between 09.00 and 16.00 or by sending an email to [email protected].
