Easy wins for Neptunes, San Giljan; Sliema have to struggle to beat Sirens

Neptunes Grimaldi won their second match on the trot with an 8-2 romp against Valletta although their five-goal top scorer Jordan Camilleri ended up excluded without substitution for the last half of the final session.

Neptunes won the first session 2-0 with a brace by Jordan Camilleri.

The second session was a tight affair but Neptunes still won 1-0 with a goal by Benji Lanzon.

The third session was even more one sided with Neptunes cruising to 3-0.

Jordan Camilleri scored another two while Timmy Agius added another.

The final session ended 2-2 with Neptunes playing the last four minutes without Jordan

Camilleri who ended up excluded without substitution. Michael Rizzo and Daniel Paolella scored for Valletta while Neptunes replied through Camilleri and Niki Lanzon for a final score of 8-2.

Sliema Frank Salt came from three goals down at the end of the second session to win 8-5 against a resilient Sirens side who faded badly at the end.

The first session ended 2-1 in favour of Sirens.

Napier gave Sirens the lead with Bugelli equalising for Sliema.

Gabriel Pace made it 2-1 for Sirens from a man up situation.

Sirens also won the second session 2-0 with Pace and Marc Grech scoring for a three goal lead at the interval.

However Sliema came backstrongly in the third session with four goals coming from Kai Dowling, Carlos Cluett and Jerome Gabarretta who scored twice for a 4-0 session win and a one goal advantage for the final session.

Sliema also won the final session 3-1 with goals from Gabarretta, Aquilina and Cluett for a final scoreline of 8-5.

Marsascala Nutrition Empire broke no sweat in defeating Ta’ Xbiex Amigos by 7 gaols to 3 in a close match although the Southseasiders were always in front.

By the end of the first two sessions, Marsaskala enjoyed a comfortable advantage largely through the efforts of Duncan Cassar but Jamie Busuttil and Otis Zammit were also in evidence.The third session ended 2-1 with Ta’ Xbiex making a game out of it but they also lost the fourth session with goals by Camilleri, Gauci and Schembri for Ta’ Xbiex not enough to stave off the Marsascala onslaught.

San Giljan crushed wooden spooners Exiles Ferretti albeit making a slow start in the first two sessions. The first ended 2- 2 with Clint Mercieca and Kayne Lanzon in evidence but the Saints pulled away in the third and fourth sessions winning by large margins.

Aurelian Cousin and Dino Zammit helped themselves to three and four goals respectively with Peter Borg also getting in on the act.

The final scoreline of 15-3 showed the great gulf between both teams and San Giljan are now with two victories under their belt and a good bet for this year’s Winter League.
