MCAST, in collaboration with the DQSE (MEDE), the Department of Counselling (UOM) and the Malta Dyslexia Association organised a number of Dyscalculia workshops. Dyscalculia is the difficulty in learning or comprehending arithmetic, such as difficulty in understanding numbers, learning how to manipulate numbers and learning facts in mathematics.
On 10 and 11 March MCAST hosted workshops for 44 specialist tutors conducted by Dr Giannis Karagiannakis from the University of Athens. Dr Karagiannakis shared innovative and effective practices and resources that could be used in the teaching of mathematics when working with students with dyscalculia.
