Fork lift truck: a good servant but a bad master

Monday, 21 March 2016, 14:04 Last update: about 11 years ago

The fork lift truck (FLT) drivers operating in various subsidiary companies under Famalco Group are undergoing a FLT certification course. The ultimate goal is to raise awareness of the potential hazards that may be created to oneself and the persons in close proximity when driving such a vehicle and manoeuvring cargo in the company's warehouse and yards.

A training program has been set up such that no less than 40 employees operating in the Warehouse and Yard of Famalco Group sister companies including Fahrenheit Freight Forwarders Co. Ltd., Fruitland Co. Ltd., and Faceworks Ltd., will be certified accordingly. This training is being delivered by the International Safety Training College. This exercise forms part of a broader program by which employees are made aware of the roles and responsibilities in relation to Health & Safety.

Certification of the employees alone is not enough and all safety precautions would not be complete without a proper inspection of each FLT by a competent person. This annual inspection and certification is being conducted by TVI Services Ltd.
