Palumbo Shipyard Malta is targeting to attract larger boats which are used to better accommodate floating docks. The Maltese shipyard company has recently designed and constructed a floating structure that can be submerged to permit the admission and docking of large boats. This structure can then be elevated to lift the ship from the water for maintenances thus keeping the vessel high and dry. The company invested over 2 million euro to develop this floating dock. 

Palumbo's new investment can now undertake repairs of sailing or motor powered yachts up to 50 meters in length and 500 tons in weight. Thanks to this floating dock, the shipyard can now perform all types of work including refitting, mechanical, maintenance and repairs of any part of the vessel. This includes much specialised work on the hull and top structure, the interior as well as mechanical electrical works.

Other important advantages of the new dock are its manoeuvrability and versatility.  A spokesperson for Palumbo Malta said that this floating dock continues to increase the range of services and size of sea craft the Shipyard already offers, as one of the largest maritime facilities in the Mediterranean.
