This is the terrifying moment a man poured fuel over a Brazilian judge and threatened to burn her to death if she doesn't declare him innocent of assaulting his wife.

Dramatic footage shows the judge being pinned to the ground in her office in the west of São Paulo in Brazil as the man threatened to spark a lighter in his hand.

The furious defendant grabbed his victim and took her hostage moments before his domestic abuse court case was about to begin.
Video shows a tense stand-off between court security and the agitated man, who was leaning over the frightened magistrate and lowering the lighter when anyone approached.

The judge pleads with the man to let her go and he shouts out as negotiators try to end the ordeal.

Footage then changes to a hand held camera clip with the defendant apparently filming himself talking. 

The man is said to have threatened to turn the hostage into a human fireball if she didn't declare him innocent of the charges against him. 
He then points the camera at the sobbing judge as he continues to rant about his grievance.

Moments later, footage filmed by security guards shows police storming into the court room, taking him by surprise and wrestling him to the ground.

They use a fire extinguisher to ensure the defendant cannot set the woman alight and then put him in handcuffs as they lead the judge away to safety.

She was later taken to Albert Einstein Hospital for check ups.
