I have the greatest respect for Dr Michael Brugulio.
There is however a particular wavelength we seem not to be sharing at the moment.
I have lived most of my life on a wavelength of diagnose, treatment plan, treat.
Once I diagnose I treat fully and completely.
I do not treat just the symptoms but go for the cause.
Because tackling symptoms without going for the root of the problem will not heal the patient.
The latter's condition might improve for a while, then the problem will set in with bigger force.
The patient might succumb to the lack of adequate proper treatment from the outset.
Our country is such a patient at the moment.
We can try to save it from further damage and embarrassment by harnessing civil society activism and pressure for change for the better as we are doing and have been doing for some time .
In the short term it sounds good because it is much easier to accomplish. It can also have a mitigating effect of sorts, temporary but effective.
But we all know that come next elections the people will be constrained to once again vote for either of the CAUSES of the problem we would have just spent months militating against!!
We need to give the people a real choice where to put their vote come next election.
We need to rock the status quo so well protected by the traditional parties which can no longer recognise themselves let alone expect people to identify with them.
And we can do it.
It does not matter whether its going to be the 3rd , 4 th or fifth. It has to be the political party that Malta and Gozo need right now to reassure its citizens that politics lives, new and fresh, even though we feel it has died or is dying.
This New Party is still a blastocyst, with cells multiplying and being added on every day, and it is true, none of us know how its going to ultimately look at the end because it is at a beginning.
But we all know that that those cells that are piling on have a common DNA.
And if we transcribe that DNA Template we see a common factor.
And that factor is the will to restore principled dignified decision making that refuses to let one single human being become just a number anywhere along its life journey.
That is what making politics boils down to.
Good dignified life for all : from conception till death.
Expecting that one can have a political party made up of people who will agree on everything all the time is unrealistic and immature.
But expecting that a group of mature principled people seek and find common ground on which to build the hope of their country is doable and is being done.
I invite Dr Brigulio to be a major player in this historical turning point in our country's political evolution.
If the group decides so he can also lead the charge, but for the time being it is a question of getting all capable hands on board to prepare a political force that can be the alternative government this country so badly needs and deserves.
