Bank of Valletta employees have joined the thousands around the world to commemorate World Book Day. The 23rd April is the day designated by UNESCO to celebrate World Book and Copyright Day, and is marked in over one hundred countries around the globe. At Bank of Valletta, this celebration took the form of a book swap across the organisation.

Throughout the month of April, BOV employees were invited to send their second-hand books to BOV Centre. The books were placed in a specifically designed structure in the internal street of BOV Centre. Employees were encouraged to browse through the selection available, and take home any book/s that caught their attention.

Speaking about the initiative, Charles Azzopardi, Head PR & Marketing at Bank of Valletta explained, "This was the first time that Bank of Valletta is commemorating World Book Day. With a workforce numbering 1,500 employees, Bank of Valletta is very much a community within a community. Through this book swap, we sought to encourage our people to rekindle their love of books whilst concurrently giving a second life to their books."

Mr. Azzopardi said that the people's response was very positive, making the book swap a success. "The books received spanned different genres and audiences, making the book swap a success." He concluded by explaining that all the remaining books were being handed over to the Central Public Library, so they would find their way across the libraries around Malta and Gozo.
