The Islamic State has banned the sale of football shirts in Mosul, the capital of the caliphate, Kurdish media report.

The sale of such merchandise is prohibited on the grounds that it is “blind imitation of western infidels”.

The Kurdish media also report the arrest of women who were indecently dressed and men who shaved off their beards.

Sports shops have been told to sell swords and other weapons.
