Minister Owen Bonnici is still undecided on whether he should contest the election for the post of Deputy Leader of the Labour Party or not.

In comments to The Malta Independent, the Minister said that this is a period of reflection and he intends to use this time consider the possibility.

Without excluding the possibility of running for the post, the Minister said that before choosing, one should consider the needs of the party.

"I will consider the possibility, but will use these coming days to reflect."

Nomination for the post of deputy leader has to be made on Monday and Tuesday.

Minister for the Economy Chris Cardona was the first one to announce his decision to contest the post which was previously occupied by Minister Konrad Mizzi. The latter was elected as Deputy Leader in February as he replaced Toni Abela.
