BRAZIL-POLITICAL CRISIS — A rancorous Senate debate on the fate of President Dilma Rousseff dragged into a new day, with her critics arguing she caused deep damage to Latin America's largest nation while supporters called the effort to impeach her a coup d'etat.

CAMPAIGN 2016 — Donald Trump brushes off his Capitol Hill critics, declaring he doesn't need House Speaker Paul Ryan or other leery Republican leaders, even as he prepares to sit down with them.

GOP 2016-TRUMP-TAXES — Donald Trump tells the AP "there's nothing to learn" from his tax returns. Really? Experts say they can offer insights as to the size and health of his businesses, how much he makes, which charities he supports and, overall, how he plays the tax game.

IRAQ — In the bloodiest day in Iraq's capital this year, three separate bombs exploded in Baghdad, killing at least 93 people and wounding 165.

UNITED STATES-ISLAMIC STATE — The Obama administration grapples with a renewed show of force by Islamic State militants as they expose the Iraqi capital's frailty through a series of deadly car bomb attacks.

ZIKA-PREVENTING BIRTHS —There's little doubt: Zika is coming to the continental United States, bringing frightening birth defects — and, most likely, newly urgent discussions about abortion and contraception. The highest risk of Zika spreading is in Southern states where long-lasting birth control and abortions are harder to procure.

SENATE-ILLINOIS-VETERANS — Rep. Tammy Duckworth, who was born in Thailand, lost both legs when her helicopter was shot down in Iraq, then held leadership roles in the Illinois and U.S. Veterans Affairs departments.

PRINCE-DEATH-MINNESOTA DOCTOR —If Prince was seeking help for a problem with prescription drugs, it would make sense for him to turn to a California addiction specialist known for new ideas on treatment. Less clear is why the rock superstar might have turned to a Minnesota family care physician with an unassuming resume.

ITALY-GAY UNIONS — Italy has joined the rest of Europe in giving some legal rights to gay couples.
