Scotland     1     Malta     19

(0-4)(0-4)(1-5)(0-6)

Malta registered an easy victory, for their second win in a row, after getting the better of Poland the day before. The locals were streets ahead of their adversaries, as they dictated the match from the start till the finish. They were also helped with Scotland's inability to make good use of their man ups, when they failed in all four of them. Malta also had four man ups, netting half of them. Karl Izzo, the Maltese mentor, made just the one change from the day before, when Christian Cluett was played in lieu of Michael Spiteri Staines. Nearly all the Malta lads put down their name on the score sheet, with the goals coming at regular intervals, in all four sessions of play.

A long range effort by Mark Meli opened Malta's score, with Matthew Zammit doubling soon after. Aurelien Cousin also obtained a goal from a distance, with Michael rizzo completing the scoring in the opening session, from close range. The Scots had three occasions, in teh next period, but missed their man ups, and they paid the price, as Dino Zammit, Mark Meli again, Christian Cluett and a second from Matthew Zammit, took the score to 8-0 till the interval.

After the break Nicky Grixti ceded his place, between the sticks, to Ryan Coleiro, with the Scots managing to pierce the Malta defence for the only time in the match, and then failing their last man up. The Maltese lads took over once more, and a nap hand of goals followed, Jerome Gabarretta netted a brace, the first one with an extra man in the water. Jordan Camilleri then obtained his double, with Dino Zammit making the score 13-1, till the end of teh session. The last period had Peter Borg getting in amongst the scorers, after Malta had missed their last man up. Ben Plumpton shot home his goal, and Jerome Gabarretta completed his poker of goals, with a second brace, both from the hole. Scotland had a chance to double their score, when they were awarded a penalty throw,  but Alasdair Campbell shot woefully wide of the goal. Then it was Matthew Zammit's turn to add another two strikes,  smashing  in his poker of goals, as he did the day before, against the Poles.

Malta were to play their third match, on the same day, in the evening, against the Danes.
