Gear is a Young Enterprise Company that has devised an innovative system to alleviate the parking problem in Malta. Malta is the most densely populated EU member state with a population of approximately 420,000 and with approximately 330,000 licensed motor vehicles on the road. Gear have already sought and received the endorsement of the local councils of Swieqi and Sliema to flagship their project.

Transport Malta has also requested meeting with Gear to discuss collaboration and dissemination of their system throughout the islands. Gear's system, P.I.E. - Park it easy, is a platform for exchange of information between garage owners and car drivers to enable the latter to make use of free parking slots, during agreed hours, which exist in front of garages. It is estimated that there are 77,000 vacant properties in Malta, others are vacant on a seasonal basis and others during working hours. Garage owners and drivers are being encouraged to register, so that cross-matches can be found and more parking slots can be created and utilised. Gear firmly believes that their system will have a positive ripple effect on traffic congestion and generally on reducing air and noise pollution in Malta.
