Nestlé Malta wraps up the Nesquik Marine Festival series with a record participation

Wednesday, 1 June 2016, 18:54 Last update: about 9 years ago

Around 500 children, between 6 and 12 years old, participated in the fourth and final edition of the Nesquik Marine Festival held at the Malta National Aquarium on Saturday 21st May. Organised annually by Nestlé Malta, the Festival provided an opportunity for Nesquik Club members to learn more about marine environment, conservation, sea life and the effects of pollution on marine creatures.

A large outdoor area at the Malta National Aquarium was transformed into a purpose-built Nesquik village, immersing children and parents alike in the world of Nesquik educational activities. Shark Lab Malta and Prof Alan Deidun delivered educational workshops and interactive presentations.

The free event included a guided visit at the Malta National Aquarium and an educational booklet for each child. The booklet consists of information about corals, coral reefs and their families, complete with tips about preserving reefs and ways how to protect these environments. The booklet also contains educational games and puzzles related to marine life to help children understand the importance of protecting marine environment.

The Nesquik annual educational events, now in their sixth year, form part of the Nestlé corporate ethos to provide children with healthy, safe and engaging opportunities to learn about their environment and healthy lifestyles.

Commenting about the sixth Nesquik annual event, Ms. Melania Calleja Pellicano, Nestlé Malta Group Product Manager said: "We are very satisfied with the feedback received from parents and children about their experience at the Nesquik Marine Festivals. The positive feedback is overwhelming and encourages us to think hard about the next cycle of educational activities. While our four-year marine life theme will be coming to an end, our educational mission is bubbling with new ideas on how to deliver more exciting, interactive educational experiences to our Nesquik Club members. The Nesquik events are designed to contribute towards a more responsible generation. Children are very receptive to positive educational messages about caring for our planet. Environmental conservation and education are important values that we seek to impart to Nesquik Club members during the various events held throughout the year."
