Thursday, 2 June 2016, 12:57 Last update: about 10 years ago

VacancyCentre has once again sponsored and exhibited at the 9th annual conference organised by FinanceMalta. The conference was held between the 25th and 26th May at the Hilton Malta and has once again proved to be a resounding success with over 350 delegates and guests attending the event, surpassing last year's figures. The conference, with the theme "Malta's Financial Service Industry, Sustaining Growth Through Innovation", was held on the 26th May 2016 at the Hilton Conference Centre. A pre-conference networking event was held on the 25th May 2016 at the Blue Elephant restaurant, which was attended by almost 200 guests. Year after year, this event is highly-awaited and attended and provides an independent and comprehensive analysis of the latest developments in Malta's financial services industry.

FinanceMalta chairman Kenneth Farrugia opened the conference, speaking about the work of FinanceMalta and the future plans for promoting Malta as a financial services centre to Europe and beyond, mentioning that FinanceMalta had organised events in New York, in February, and was gearing up for more events throughout the year.

The conference was addressed by Dr Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta who stated that innovation must be main strength in growing Malta as a financial services sector, and Prof. Edward Scicluna, Minister for Finance (Malta) who also emphasised the importance of innovation in pushing the economic sectors forward.

The conference was also host to various international speakers including Dario Scannapieco, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank, Ignazio Angeloni who is a Member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank, Ward Greenberg from Cleary Gottlieb Stien & Hamilton, the Irish Financial Ombudsman, Ger Deering, and motivational speaker Julie Meyer.

There were several panel sessions throughout the day and three concurrent workshops in the afternoon which discussed the themes of Pension Funds, Securitisation and Private equity and Venture Capital Funds, respectively.

VacancyCentre was very pleased with the outcome of the event, particularly due to its positioning as a specialist recruitment agency that recognises Malta's potential within the sector and introduces candidates to some of the best roles within the financial services industry available in Malta.

Commenting, VacancyCentre General Manager John Dimech said that VacancyCentre's experience at the annual conference was very positive as it provided a good opportunity for networking and said he looked forward to being there again next year.
