On Tuesday, 24 May, students studying French at four Secondary schools; St Joseph Sliema, Kullegg San Benedettu, Kullegg San Gorg Preca and San Andrea School, together with their teachers, were invited to the French Ambassador's Residence in Zebbug for a prize-giving ceremony.

They received certificates and gifts for winning the 'French is Fun' video-competition organised by the Association des Professeurs de Français de Malte (APFM).

This educational and fun competition targeted students in Forms 3, 4 and 5 in all Secondary schools.

Upon their arrival, the students were greeted by French Ambassador Béatrice Le Fraper du Hellen and Laurent Croset, the embassy's Cultural Counselor.  Students and teachers were then taken on a tour of the garden of the residence before viewing the winning videos.

The presentation of certificates and gifts was carried out by Mrs. Angèle Lauwers, President of the APFM and Céline McCarthy, Vice-President.

The Ambassador congratulated the participants taking part in the competition and thanked the APFM and all entities involved in the teaching of French in Malta for their efforts. The event ended with a reception.

Gifts were offered by the French Embassy, the APFM and Bureau Vallée, a French company based in Malta which distributes office supplies which are respectful of the environment (recycled materials, certified products etc.).

Each student and guest was given a copy-book made from recycled paper.
