Maltco Lotteries presented the €50,000 contribution to the Responsible Gaming Fund, and additionally announced the sponsorship of one of the Responsible Gaming Foundation Scholarships at the University of Malta. Maltco's mission is to provide a wide spectrum of entertaining games of chance and skill to players in Malta, within a transparent and accountable environment, based on Responsible Gaming Principles. Recently the company trained over 600 agents and assistants in Responsible Gaming. Maltco is certified by the World Lottery Association’s Responsible Gaming Framework and by the European Lotteries Responsible Gaming Standards.

Responsible Gaming is a framework in the gaming industry promoted and supported heavily by Maltco Lotteries, to ensure their entertainment services and associated player offerings uphold the highest standards to secure a fair and safe gaming experience that protects players, minors and vulnerable persons from any adverse consequences of gaming and gambling.

Maltco Lotteries CEO Vasileios Kasiotakis said: "Amongst Maltco’s primary aims since the very beginning was to introduce to the gaming industry how to play in a responsible manner; players, agents, employees, the stakeholders and the general public. The principles of Responsible Gaming are embedded in all our operational processes. We thank our network of over 200 partners, all of whom have passed the regulatory tests for eligibility, and who receive regular Responsible Gaming training from Maltco. This contribution to the Responsible Gaming Fund allows the Responsible Gaming Foundation to reinforce that work in the wider community."

Chairman for the Responsible Gaming Foundation, Hon Silvio Schembri, who received the cheque of €50,000 said that the foundation strongly believes that research is essential to the development of the gaming industry. The scholarships which the Responsible Gaming Foundation will be funding through this donation, will centre on the gaming industries and the development of the user, in order to enjoy gaming purely as a form of entertainment.

Minister for Competitiveness and Digital, Maritime and Services Economy, Hon Emanuel Mallia said: “Gaming is now 10% of Malta Gross National Product and accounts for over 5000 jobs. We need balance in this area between development of gaming in the economy and good regulation to control the industry. Thanks to Maltco Lotteries we have support beyond Super 5 and UBET, they are great supporters of education and Responsible Gaming, we thank them for their continuing support.”
