It's not every day that Malta gets the opportunity to witness a two-time Grammy nominated musician perform his heart out in a venue just as magnificent as the music being played in it. Tommy Emmanuel, the Australian acoustic guitar god will be performing at Pjazza Teatru Real tomorrow night.
With a mix of genres between gypsy jazz, blues and good old rock 'n' roll; Emmanuel's undoubtedly magnificent performance should be on every guitar aficionado's calendar. His presence both on and off the stage is as memorable as his playing as the down-to-Earth guitar player makes everyone fall in love with his laid back attitude and clear passion for music.
The guitarist got his first guitar at age four and by the age of six he was already a working professional musician along with his older brother, Philip Emmanuel touring Australia along with his family. His accolades include a 1998 Grammy Nomination for a duet with Chet Atkins called 'Smokey Mountain Lullaby' as well as another Grammy nomination in 2007 for 'Gameshow Rag/Cannonball Rag', which also won 'Instrumental of the Year' at the 35th Tamworth Country Music Festival.
TAO Productions, who have also brought such talent as Andy McKee and Don Ross, have once again brought an acoustic guitar legend to the island. Very few tickets are still available either for €35 or €50 depending on proximity to the stage.
